THE BACKGROUND
Ductile iron is cast into iron pipes using centrifugal casting machines. These pipes are produced in two types and in various sizes with diameters ranging from 80-800 cm. The process runs 24 hours a day and on multiple production lines.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The client wanted to identify areas where the amount of loss could be reduced using data analytics. This was quantified as a 15% reduction in loss. Three specific areas were identified in regards to this process: availability, performance, and quality.
